The Land Down Under

G' Day Mate!
Were off to the Australian Outback were we have signed up for a day of Geo caching. Geo caching is a treasure hunting game where you use a GPS to hide and seek containers with other participants in the activity. We went online and found many different caches in our area, but because of a little natural disaster called the Wallow fire, we weren't able to go anywhere except right off the highway.

When you find the cache you can take the Treasure, and then leave something to replace it.

Checking the GPS

Finding the cache

Oh what wonderful treasure awaits!

We refilled the cache with some marvelous treasure of our own and recovered it for the next hunters.

It was pretty disappointing to everyone that our day of geo caching was very limited, but considering that this is what it looked like at my house only weeks before, we feel very fortunate to have a home and some nature still around us to go out in!

Evacuation

During the evacuation

The Great Barrier Reef

Since our Outback adventure was cut short, we pulled out all the water games and played in the ocean.

Then we swam on over to the Great Barrier Reef Cafe for lunch.

We had fish sticks, shrimp cocktail, tuna sandwiches, french fries, ...

...a jello fish tank,..

and sea shell cupcakes.
