The Feast at Forest Lawn

Welcome to Forest Lawn Cemetery, where many of Hollywood's most famous stars reside.

Please join us in a morbidly delightful feast as we visit our idols in Forest Lawn. The menu selected for your dining enjoyment features dishes celebrating the uncommon deaths of some of our favorite stars.

Aunt Bea's Litter Box Cake
Francis Bavier (Aunt Bea to fans of The Andy Griffith Show) died at age 86 in North Carolina. She was found in her Siler City house along with her 14 cats. Frances had turned every shower and tub in the house into litter boxes. Hence the yummy cake!

Heath Ledger's Chocolate OD Cookies
Heath Ledger died in 2008 of a "Toxic combination of prescription drugs". Our cookies were an almost toxic combination of every chocolate candy I could squeeze into the dough.

Gary Coleman's Staircase Stumble Cookies
Gary Coleman was known for his small stature and for playing Arnold on "Different Strokes". His cookies depict "the little schoolboy" as he looked in the crime scene photos after he fell down a flight of stairs and died from a cerebral hemorrhage. (I piped red candy melts in a puddle around the head of a "Little Schoolboy" cookie.)

Mata Hari's Kisses
Mata Hari was an exotic dancer who was tried and convicted of spying in 1917. She was reported to have blown kisses to the firing squad as she was executed.

Graveyard Gravel

Ingredients:

3 Cups Chocolate Chips
1 14 oz can Eagle Brand milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
2 cups mini marshmallows

unsweetened cocoa mixed with an equal part of powdered sugar

Line a 9x9 pan with foil and spray it with Pam. In a medium pan heat and stir the chips, milk, butter, and vanilla over medium heat until melted. Remove from heat and stir in marshmallows JUST until combined . Pour into pan and run a table knife through the mixture until marbled. Chill for 2 hrs. Using a small scoop or spoon scoop out fudge and roll into irregularly shaped stone shapes. (This will be sticky.) Roll in powdered sugar, cocoa or a combination of both. Keep chilled until serving.

Minty Stones

Ingredients:

6 oz softened cream cheese
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
6 cups powdered sugar
black gel food coloring

In a large bowl beat cream cheese and peppermint extract. Gradually add powdered sugar. Knead until smooth. Add black food coloring. Don't completely incorporate the color. You want it to look like rocks. Roll in powdered sugar, cocoa, a combination of both or black sugar.

Steve Irwin's Great Barrier Blood Bath
Steve Irwin, "The Crocodile Hunter" died in the Great Barrier Reef in 2006 in a freak accident where his heart was pierced by a barb from a stingray. (For Death Photo see Danny)

Sharon "Tate"-R-Tots
Sharon Tate, an actress who received an Academy Award for her performance in "The Valley of the Dolls", died along with four others in her Beverly Hills mansion at the hands of the Charles Manson followers.

Ronald Reagan's Alzheimer's Shrimp Pate
Ronald Reagan, a Hollywood actor (you may remember that classic, Bedtime for Bonzo) and 40th President of the United States, died in 2004 of complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

Elvis's Intestinal Blockage
Elvis Presley, Singer, actor, The King, died in 1977 on the "Throne". His intestines were compacted and distended due to excessive pain medication use.

John Lennon's Ceviche Shots
John Lennon of "The Beatles" was "Shot" outside his apartment in 1980 by a fan whom he had autographed an album for earlier in the evening.

Bette Davis Eyes
Bette Davis died in 1980. She was always noted for her signature eyes, which Kim Carnes immortalized in her song "Bette Davis Eyes".

Boris Karloff's Yummy Mummy
A pork tenderloin wrapped in phyllo dough.

Jim Morrison's Bath Water Punch
Jim Morrison, the lead singer of "The Doors" died in the bathtub, in a Paris apartment of an "Apparent" Heroin overdose. The Soap is vanilla pudding frozen in a soap mold.

Bath Water Punch

  • 12 ounces can frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 2 liters 7-Up, Sprite or other Lemon-Lime Soda
  • 1/2 gallon rainbow sherbert

  •
Let the sherbert soften for 15 minutes in the tub, then add lemonade and soda. Add frozen pudding soap. (I made up four soaps and added one when the previous one melted.)

    Sonny Bono's Ski Lodge Cocoa
Hot chocolate served in blood splattered foam cups. Sonny Bono, singer and Mayor of Palm Springs died at the ironically named "Heavenly Ski Resort" in 1998, of injuries sustained after he skied into a tree.

    Sal Mineo's Murdered Meatloaf
In 1976, Sal Mineo, an award winning actor for "Rebel without a cause", was stabbed to death outside his West Hollywood apartment.

    Jack Cassidy's Barbecued Ribs
(sadly not shown) Jack Cassidy suffered an untimely demise by falling asleep on his couch with a cigarette in his mouth. His remains could only be identified by a signet ring he wore.

    Marilyn Monroe's Mints
The legendary Marilyn Monroe died under suspicious circumstances in 1962. The official cause of death was barbiturate poisoning, although most feel that she was murdered.

Attila the Hun's Coagulated Candy Apples
Attila the Hun was a universal ruler, plunderer and all round "Party animal". On the night of his marriage to a much younger bride (one of many) he supposedly died of an acute nosebleed.

Bella Lugosi's Bat Wings (and a small glimpse of Jack's ribs)

    Patrick Swayze's Ghost
Patrick Swayze was known for his "Dirty Dancing" and for his tear-jerking role in "Ghost". He died in 2009 of Pancreatic Cancer.

I hope you've enjoyed this culinary romp through Forest Lawns.
    "Bone" Appetit!
