Welcome Fall!

There is a nip in the air and the apples are crisp and sweet. This is my favorite time of year. If only it could linger on a little longer!

These leaves were a happy little accident. Last year I saw some that looked like porcelain. They had dipped the fabric leaves in a plaster of paris mixture and hung them to dry. I bought very vibrant leaves at Hobby Lobby because they were the largest I could find. They started out white but as they dried the color started bleeding through and I quite like it!

My flower bed's are valiantly trying to produce as much beauty
as they can before they are silenced by winter. Great effort guys!

Brown Family Reunion 2012

Our family is blessed enough to have a "Happy Place" where we can go and escape from the worries and stress of the world. We all run away to the woods of Milligan Valley, to the same forest that Great Grandpa Brown roamed as a boy. Now his spirit lingers on in the bodies of many little boys and girls who build forts, climb trees and hunt wild animals real and imagined and who travel the grassy trails he followed as a child.

Everybody is a cousin and everyone is a friend!

Mama's have the peace of mind of knowing that their children are safe and loved by all.

Some of the greatest fun is had by the kids stacking and building with the lumber scraps we burn in the fireplace. Asher buil this house, put the bent log on top the whole time singing the Bob The Builder song,"Can we fix it? Yes we can!"

Wildlife abounds in the meadows surrounding the barn. Some amorous elk kept the campers awake with their lovesick bugling the first night. Trevor thankfully went out and had a heart to heart talk with them and they finally vacated the premises!

Best Buds!

The kid's roamed the hills and played until way after dark, only coming in when the dinner bell rang!
At night the families competed for grand prizes and used there considerable skills to obtain glory for their clan.

Minute to win it!

Two full cans of soda have to be stacked within four empty cans

Knock down water bottles with a ball in the end of panty hose and secured to your head

Keep three balloons in the air at all times

Race balancing an egg on an inverted pizza tray

Moving an egg to a chalked circle using the air generated from a pizza box
(and Mandy thought blowing might help too!)

Moving the cookie from your forehead to your mouth without hands

Stacking 36 cups
(Merrill's grade school stacking paid off!)

Shaking a dozen ping pong balls out of a kleenex box
(Since Adam wouldn't shake his award winning booty (See Survivor Party) Cassie did her family proud and let those balls fly, leaving everyone else in the dust!)

The sibling challenge- all the brothers and sisters of the Grant Brown family stuck their nose in Vaseline then in cottonballs, ran and deposited it in another bowl and continued until all the cotton balls were delivered.

The matriarch of our family, Great Grandma Brown AKA Grandma Homey,
AKA Grandma White Hair, shares some insights with Korbi.

The tree top club. This pine tree housed different levels of the club.
Only a few were inducted into level one located at the tip top of the tree!
