Dino Finale!

Following in big footsteps!

Being a dinosaur isn't as easy as it looks!
The Bigfoot Challenge Relay was a lot easier for the little guys!

Danii finally got smart and tied her feet on!

Dino Egg Sneak

Everyone was given a dinosaur grabber from OTC.
In this game they had 30 seconds to run to the nest ...

...grab as many eggs as they can, and transfer them to their bag.

Finding Fossils

The dinosuar hunters noticed some odd looking rocks laying about.
Upon further inspection they discovered they were fossilized dinosaurs!

They carefully broke away the rock with hammers uncovering the skeletons within.

Sand Clay for fossils
3 c. sand
1 1/2 c. cornstarch
3 t. alum
2 1/2 c. hot water
Cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stir often. Encase the dinosaur skeleton. Let air dry for a week. I also made fossil rocks by stamping the rock shaped clay with footprints from toy dinosaurs, shells, leaves etc.

Cave Artists

The kids got creative painting ceramic dinos from OTC.

Brontosauraus Nesting Ground

We heard rumors of a dino nesting ground so we went exploring.

Each family had to find their own special paper mache egg. These things
were huge!, and in one family's case, very well hidden!

Upon cracking them open they found all sorts of dinosaur  prizes and foods.

  Caveman Cuisine

The cave kids enjoyed a firepit dinner of hot dogs, pterodactyl legs (chicken drumsticks),...

...pterodactyl nests (red cabbage slaw with grapes on top) and sauraus s'mores.

Then it was time for some cave man campfire songs!

Sweet dreams sweet cave baby!

Dino - Mite!

Whoa! we sure didn't plan our arrival in prehistoric times very well! We landed here right in the middle of a big child custody dispute. It seems like Mama Cave woman adopted a baby dinosaur fair and square and now Mama Dinosaur has changed her mind and wants her baby back! Mama Cave woman said, "NO WAY!" Now Mama Dinosaur is on the rampage and we are right in her path!

Watch out! Mrs. Cave woman is ticked off!

We felt the earth trembling and knew Mama Dinosaur was on her way. We ran for our lives to Mama Cave woman's home where she shared her furs with us so that we could dress more appropriately.

After dressing we fashioned spears from dowels, clay arrowheads,
wood burners, raffia, wooden beads and feathers.

The big buddies helped their little buddies burn their names and designs into the spear shaft.

Spear Throwing Contest

Merrill demonstrates the fine art of spear throwing...

...and spear retrieval!

Fierce Hunters!

Dino-Mite Lunch!

Jett guards our lunch from marauding dinosaurs

Our prehistoric lunch consisted of : Dino mac & cheese, dino chicken nuggets,...

Saurus sandwiches, Dinosaur eggs (boiled eggs colored after the shell came off)...

...Dino cookies, triceratops horns (bugles) with guaca-swamp (guacamole),
swamp water (murky, greenish punch) and dino snot (green jello) in a labeled bag.

Our table decor included chocolate rocks, fossils, succulents, fur...

...and vines growing everywhere. We also had a sign that said, "Cave, sweet, cave."

To be continued....
