Far Out! - Happy Hippy Part Two

We were famished after our performances at Woodstock so the sponsors of the concert provided us with lunch. We pigged out on flower power sandwiches (shaped like flowers), Groovy Granola Parfaits, and tie dyed cupcakes.

                                                                That was trippin'!!!

After lunch we tried our hand at some 60's crafts

You spin me right around baby, right around!

Spin Art masters

Everyone knows well dressed hippies wear tie-dyed threads.
An expert on the craft gave us careful instructions.

Our t-shirt designs were "Out of sight!!!"

After designing our t-shirts we tried out a tie-dye experiment. For this experiment you need a wide, shallow bowl or baking pan. Place about 1 cup of whole milk in it. Drop a few drops of neon colored food coloring in it. Then drop in 1-2 drops of Palmolive Dish Detergent in the middle of the pan. When you drop in the dish soap the dye shoots out through the milk causing a tie-dye effect. We did this over and over!

In the immortal words of that great philosopher, Edwin Star:

War, huh, yeah
What is it good for
Absolutely nuthin'!
Say it again y'all
War, huh, yeah
What is it good for
Absolutely nuthin'!!!

While some went to War, others stayed at home and...

Protested!!!

This was our favorite protest sign. Rex said, "Heck no, we won't go!
I am not going, I am good!
Seconds later he gave in to the temptation of a good water gun fight and
left the peaceful demonstrators and joined the fight!

I'm a lover...

...not a fighter!

Come on people now, smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now, right now, right now!!!

We're promoting peace by staging a dance-in.

Every "buddy" had to dance on a newspaper to 60's protest songs.

Each time someone stepped off their paper they were out and the
other teams had to fold their paper in half and continue dancing.

This was a great way to really Get Together!

Psychedelic Supper

We dined under a fluorescent glow cast by black lights, lava lamps and disco balls.

Dinner included pizza, fruit, Special brownies, and glow in the dark jello flowers.
(Make the jello using tonic water instead of water and cut out in flower shapes.)

White daisies and tonic water in clear vases cast a cool glow under blacklights.

The last activity of the evening was a glow in the dark fountain. Remove the label from a room temperature bottle of tonic water. Outside, place a blacklight at least 4 feet from the tonic water. Roll up a paper tube and place it around an unwrapped package of Mento's. Place a index card over the open top of the tonic water, place the roll of Mento's on top, pull out the card and when the Mento's drop into the bottle,
 cool glowing mento fountain!

Our littlest protesters stage one last sit-in!

Ode to the 60's
After eating our brownies we "tripped" off to bed
while visions of mushrooms twirled in our heads
We dreamt of a concert where everyone played
and Uncle Ryan danced around in a weird "Purple Haze"!

Peace, love
