The first day-"Cool" is in session!

The Buddies

Each year the campers are paired up with buddies. The older buddy is in charge, making sure the younger is ready each morning, is feed, has help with games and crafts and is always safe!

Welcome to new students and a Back to School Breakfast

The tranquility of the morning was broken by the ringing of the school bell and the immediate arrival of COACH! She lined us out, gave us the rules and would put up with no monkey business!

Some didn't take her seriously enough!

Coach told the students that a healthy breakfast was necessary to have the strength to make it through one of her PE classes. She led the children to the cafeteria for a Back to School Breakfast.

Summer's Cool Decor

Last year I promised all my faithful camp counselors that this year would be an easy year, no daily complete decorating turnovers, no costumes and easy breezy daily  activities. So in keeping with that promise I decorated the house in a retro school theme that stayed up throughout the week of camp.

I scanned all the parents and grandparents school pictures and some old school papers,

report cards, flash cards, etc. and pinned them to bakers twine with mini clothespins and then

tied primary colored ribbons between. The ABC border above was from the Dollar Tree.

I made the vase by hot gluing Dollar Tree pencils to a jar.

I made the specimen case by filling a rusty box with fake eggs,

birds nests, fake moss and apple blossoms.

Camp GrammaLuvlee 2014 - Summer's Cool (an education in Summer fun)

It' that time of year again. It's time for the one and only

Camp GrammaLuvlee!
This year's theme is "Summer's Cool" (a play on Summer School)
an education in Summer fun

The Invitations

The invitations were strategically placed on tables in the various family homes. Upon entering, the children were greeted by the grating sound of a school bell ringing and then the melodious introduction to that classic anthem to school children everywhere: Schools Out by Alice Cooper!

The invitation included a School Bus filled with ABC cookies. The pattern is found here.

Rolo pencils with the instructions found here. A slate with licorice chalk I found at World Market. A folder with the invites and a  fake green apple.

The folder was made by cutting and folding a double sided 12 X 12 piece of printed cardstock.
